Terms of Service

A clear understanding, from your first hello.

Effective

1. About these terms

DoThisLingo is a language-learning service operated by WorkBeaver Limited, registered in England and Wales under company number 15911663. Our registered office is First Floor, 5 Fleet Place, London EC4M 7RD, United Kingdom. These terms govern your use of our website and app at dothislingo.com. Contact us at [email protected].

By using DoThisLingo, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information, and our Refund Policy explains purchase refunds.

2. Your account

DoThisLingo is for people aged 18 or over. Provide accurate account information, keep access to your email and sign-in methods secure, and let us know if you believe someone has used your account without permission.

You are responsible for activity you authorise through your account. Do not share or sell your account, impersonate another person, or create accounts to repeatedly obtain one-time welcome allowances. Some features require a verified account and an internet connection.

3. Learning and generated content

DoThisLingo offers language lessons, practice, translations, and teacher responses. Lessons, translations, and teacher responses may be generated automatically and can contain mistakes. Check important translations before relying on them, especially where accuracy affects health, safety, legal matters, or financial decisions. We do not promise a particular learning outcome.

Personalized lessons are prepared for your selected languages and topic when a lesson is not already available. They are not necessarily unique to you or adapted to an individual profile. Complete lesson material may also become available to other learners. Your private teacher conversations and translation history are not published as part of that shared lesson library.

4. Fair use and content rights

You may use the service and its learning materials for your own lawful learning. We or our licensors retain rights in the app, branding, and materials to the extent those rights exist. These terms do not transfer ownership of them to you.

You retain any rights you hold in the text you submit. You give us permission to process that text and relevant context only as needed to provide, secure, and maintain the service, including through the providers described in our Privacy Policy. Only submit material you are entitled to use; avoid unnecessary sensitive information about yourself or others.

Do not use the service for unlawful activity, submit abusive or infringing material, disrupt other users, bypass account or usage controls, probe systems without authorisation, or extract and redistribute the service or its lesson library at scale. This does not restrict rights that cannot lawfully be restricted.

5. Free learning and paid plans

Available complete lessons can be studied online without using a personalized-lesson allowance. New accounts can receive a one-time welcome gift of three personalized lessons, three translations, and three teacher replies after verification. Existing accounts retain their original welcome gift; check Account → Plan and usage for your remaining practice. This is not a recurring allowance or a free trial that automatically becomes a paid subscription.

Our Pricing page describes the offers. The plan, price, currency, billing interval, allowances, and applicable taxes shown before checkout form part of your purchase agreement.

Monthly Plus renews monthly until cancelled. A 30-day Plus pass is a single payment and does not renew. Extra-practice packs are single payments, do not expire, and can be used without a subscription; they do not provide offline access by themselves. Practice allowances are shared across languages. Unused included monthly practice does not roll over. We do not automatically charge for extra usage.

Only creating a previously unavailable lesson uses the personalized-lesson allowance, including where part of that lesson has already been prepared. Studying an available lesson does not use it. You can view your balances and renewal details in Account → Plan and usage.

6. Payments and cancellation

Our order process is handled by Paddle, our authorised reseller and merchant of record. Paddle handles payment collection, applicable transaction taxes, receipts, and payment-related support. Purchases through Paddle are also subject to its Buyer Terms and Privacy Notice.

You can cancel future subscription renewals through Account → Plan and usage, the management link in your Paddle receipt, or Paddle support. Cancellation normally leaves access in place until the end of the paid period. It does not itself refund an earlier payment. A failed renewal does not grant a new paid period or new allowances. See our Refund Policy for refund requests and your statutory rights.

7. Offline learning

Offline learning requires downloaded, compatible lesson content and a current Plus subscription or 30-day pass. The app periodically needs an internet connection to verify access. Offline permission lasts no longer than your paid period and must be refreshed at least every 30 days. Browser storage limits, clearing site data, or removing the app can remove downloaded content.

Translations, teacher conversations, account synchronisation, and preparing new lessons require a connection. We cannot guarantee that every feature is available offline or that browser-stored data will always remain on your device.

8. Account deletion and service changes

You can request account deletion through Account → Account data. Deletion removes your account and associated learning data and ends access to account-bound allowances. The deletion process cancels recurring billing before completing; if payment activity cannot be safely resolved, it may require a retry. Deleting an account is not a refund request. Limited records may remain for the reasons described in our Privacy Policy.

We may restrict or suspend access to address misuse, security problems, or legal obligations. Where reasonably possible, we will explain the reason and give you an opportunity to resolve it. We may update the service or these terms and will give appropriate notice of material changes affecting paid access. Any price change will be disclosed before it applies to a future renewal. Changes do not remove rights attached to earlier purchases.

9. Our responsibility to you

We aim to provide the service with reasonable care and skill. Interruptions, inaccurate content, and failures of networks or third-party services can occur. For consumer users, we remain responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill. The service is provided for personal learning, and we do not accept responsibility for business losses arising from business use.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where that would be unlawful, including for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or rights and remedies under mandatory consumer law.

10. Questions and governing law

Please contact [email protected] if you have a concern so we can try to resolve it. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You retain any mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings in your home jurisdiction that apply to you as a consumer. Nothing here requires you to waive those rights.
